Kenny Dalglish in Rangers and Celtic derby prediction as Scotland legend makes 'individual brilliance' call

There might not be much at stake when the Old Firm clash for the final team of the season at Ibrox this afternoon.

But Kenny Dalglish is predicting a cracker when the fierce rivals meet for the fifth and final time of a huge campaign.

There is no such thing as a meaningless fixture when Rangers and Celtic meet and, while the league has long since been settled, there are still issues riding on this one.

For a start, there is the small matter of Steven Gerrard's men - a whopping 20 points ahead of their rivals - going for an invincible league campaign with just three games left and the chance to hit the 100-point mark.

The visitors have the chance to the ones who end that unbeaten run and give captain Scott Brown a winning derby send-off if John Kennedy gives the veteran midfielder time on the pitch before he moves on to pastures new.

And Kenny Dalglish, speaking to the Sunday Post, is licking his lips on derby day and said: "I've a feeling it will be pulsating, end-to-end stuff.

"Rangers want to go through their 38 Premiership games unbeaten, and Celtic, of course, will want to stop them.

" Steven Gerrard and his players will also want to reach the 100-point mark. It's the final Old Firm fixture of the season, and it's the most-important game both sides will play between now and the rest of the campaign.

"It has the makings of a really interesting clash. John Kennedy has yet to beat Rangers in his two attempts as interim-manager. He'll want it to be third time luck.

"Scott Brown is also playing in his final Old Firm game. The Parkhead skipper has had many magical moments in his 14 years in the Hoops, and he'll be giving it 100 per cent to have one more high at Ibrox before he calls time on his Celtic career."

Rangers' success has been built on a rock-solid defence this season with just 12 goals conceded but Dalglish reckons it could the entertainers who shine in this game

The 70-year-old said: "It always takes a solid performance to win any Old Firm game, but it can also require a moment of individual brilliance.

"That's where the likes of Scott Wright might emerge a hero. He has been impressive in his last two outings for Rangers against St Johnstone.

"In the Celtic team, I hope James Forrest is fit and available. He has it in his locker to bring the three points back to Parkhead.

"Both teams will be determined to win but I've a feeling they will share the points. Both teams will definitely score. I'm going for 1-1."
