Kenny Dalglish hopes Rangers transfer decision doesn't leave Ibrox goal machine full of regret

Kenny Dalglish hopes Rory Wilson isn’t left to rue his decision to leave Rangers.

The red-hot 49-goal youth striker is set to try his luck in England, with former Ibrox gaffer Steven Gerrard’s Aston Villa linked.

Wilson enjoyed a record breaking season at Rangers but the 16-year-old said it’s time to “get to the next level”.

And Celtic, Liverpool and Scotland legend Dalglish hopes it works out for him after making the big career decision.

Writing in his Sunday Post column, he said: “Many will think, at just 16, it’s too early for him to leave home, and he should stay at Ibrox for another while and look to push into he first team.

“I can understand that viewpoint, but the same guidelines don’t apply to everyone.

“Rory says he wants to test himself at the next level, and feels going down south is the best way to do that.

“Like every kid in the game, I wish him well, and hope things work out for him the way he wants them to and he doesn’t regret this decision.

“He has been a scoring sensation at youth level for the Light Blues and Scotland Under-17 side this season, and has hit 49 goals.

“The youngster is entitled to do what he feels is best for his career, and I’m sure he is receiving the proper guidance from his family and others.

“But some will be disappointed he is not staying at Rangers as they have played a huge part in his development.”
