Kenny Dalglish hails key Rangers rotation and predicts it could land silverware this season

Scotland legend Sir Kenny Dalglish has heaped praise on Rangers manager Steven Gerrard for the way he's managed his strikers to take his side to the top of the league.

The Ibrox boss has had to find a way to keep both Alfredo Morelos and Jermain Defoe happy this season and has managed it with aplomb.

Defoe is the top-scorer in the division while Morelos is level with Odsonne Edouard in third.

Dalglish wrote in his Sunday Post column: "He (Gerrard) deserves enormous credit for what has unfolded over the past month.

"The way he has deployed Jermain Defoe and Alfredo Morelos has been vital to their success.

"He doesn't just rotate his strikers for the sake of it, he will choose the appropriate front man, depending on the strengths and defensive make-up of the opposition on that particular day.

"That's good management and can help win silverware, something Rangers fans crave."

The two strikers get along off the field too, with Gerrard revealing that the departure of Daniel Candeias brought out a new side of the Colombian.

"Since Daniel’s left, Alfredo has opened up and come out of his shell a little bit more," he said.

“He’s mixing with the players more and seems really happy.

“And Jermain is definitely someone who has helped with that, he’s put his arm around him.

“That relationship has blossomed and it’s fantastic for us.

“If we can keep those two healthy and in their current form, it will give us a much better chance of having a good time together.”
