Kenny Dalglish given go-ahead to hand out Liverpool title medals

Liverpool will be handed their Premier League medals by the man who guided them to their last success 30-years ago - Sir Kenny Dalglish.

The Anfield legend was the manager the last time they won the title in 1990 and the Premier League have granted approval for him to hand out the medals.

The trophy ceremony will come after the match against Chelsea at Anfield next week in what will be the Reds last home Premier League game of the season.

No fans will be in attendance in what is a blow for the club on such an historic occasion but they are attempting to make it as special as possible.

The club asked for approval for that reason, with Dalglish to hand out the medals before Jordan Henderson lifts the trophy.

Jurgen Klopp believed it was an important thing to do to give the fans something else to be happy about during the coronavirus crisis.

Liverpool skipper Henderson is out for the rest of the season with injury and Klopp said: "We know since yesterday the injury is not as serious as we really thought, all of us and it is big relief, big relief because we really thought he deserves exactly - for the role he played the last years now - he deserves to be in that spot at that moment [when we lift the trophy].

"So we will find a solution that shows the respect absolutely for what he did. All the boys want that by the way, they all want him to be there and that was one of the first things I heard after we won the league!"
