Kenny Black sends Rangers and Hearts message as he points to 'only logical step'

Kenny Black saw Bradford’s play-off hopes scuppered last night – and reckons his former clubs Rangers and Hearts will just have to suck it up too.

Along with boss Stuart McCall, Bantams No.2 Black had been eyeing a promotion push.

But League Two sides want to end the season now, with approval from the EFL board and the FA all that is left to be done.

Black, who started out at Ibrox in the 1980s before five years in Gorgie, said: “It’s the only logical thing unfortunately.

“The bottom line is we just don’t know when it’s going to be safe to restart the season. That goes for us in League Two and the Scottish Premiership.

“The Premier League might have the money for testing kits and playing behind closed doors but it is a different scenario else-where. The money would only be going one way.”

Despite the play-offs “still a feasible target” with four points to make up, Black dubbed the decision “probably the most straightforward one and we have to live with it”.

And he added: “Hearts will be really disappointed with the position they find themselves in. They’ve only won four games in the league. Their performances haven’t been good enough. Calling Celtic champions is perhaps more straight-forward because they hold a healthy lead.

“It’s a case that both my old clubs might just have to accept this was the only logical step in very difficult times. Decisions have had to be made. You can never please everybody.”
