Kenneth Paal talks up Celtic transfer as he discusses options open to him this summer

Kenneth Paal has talked up a potential move to Celtic.

The Dutch defender has been linked with a movie to the Scottish Premiership but there is plenty of interest in the PEC Zwolle player from the Netherlands, England and the continent as well.

Barnsley reportedly had a bid of £750,000 rejected by the Eredivise side earlier this summer.

But AZ Alkmaar, Bordeaux and St Etienne are also reportedly chasing the former PSV man.

The 24-year-old only has a year left to run on his Zwolle contract so the potential for a cut price deal is there.

And given the history of Dutch players such as Pierre van Hooijdonk, Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink and Virgil van Dijk wearing the Hoops, Paal certainly seems very open to the prospect of moving to Celtic Park and playing under Ange Postecoglou.

He said: “Yes, such a big club, with such a history, that's always nice to hear. That just shows that you're doing a good job."

However, there has as yet been no form contact from Celtic or any other club, and the defender is focused on preparing for the new season with Zwolle as things stand

Paal continued: “So it just hasn't led to a deal yet. That's why: as it stands now, I will still be a PEC player next season.

“I'm just working on PEC and just trying to stay as sober as possible. Then I'll see if it really becomes concrete."

However, it would appear a move to England would be the player’s preference. He explained to destentor.nl : “I've always said that too. That's where I get the most out of my game.

“That's how I like to see it. And make no mistake about the Championship level. I'm sure a lot of Premier League clubs would have a hard time there. That's a really nice competition. I would like to experience that.”
