Kenneth Branagh's Belfast: When is the cinema release date?

New film Belfast is set to premiere in cinemas across the UK and Ireland this January, and it has already generated a massive buzz across the Atlantic with fans and critics alike.

Belfast , directed by North Belfast-born actor/filmmaker Kenneth Branagh, tells the story of a nine-year old boy Buddy, whose innocent childhood is shattered when he's confronted with the reality of the troubles in 1969.

The film features an all-star cast, with Jamie Dornan playing Buddy's 'Pa', Caitríona Balfe playing Ma, Judi Dench playing Buddy's grandmother, and Ciarán Hinds playing his grandfather.

It also introduces Northern Irish child actor Jude Hill, who plays the leading role of Buddy.

Belfast has already received international acclaim from critics, and scooped up numerous awards, including the prestigious People's Choice Award at the Toronto Film Festival in late 2021.

The film had its Irish premiere in Northern Ireland in November 2021, bringing the stars of the film to a red carpet event at the Waterfront Hall.

The cast took part in a Q&A in the Waterfront Hall, and a selection of film fans and the media were then treated to a first screening of Belfast .

However, the public in the UK and Ireland will have to wait until January 21 to see the film at screens across the country.

The film was originally due to have its UK and Ireland release date on November 12, however this was pushed back to early 2022 last year.
