Kendrick Perkins: Thunder wouldn’t have let Kevin Durant play Game 5

In the aftermath of Kevin Durant’s injury in Game 5 of the NBA Finals on Monday, there has been chatter about the Golden State Warriors forward’s best interests — and how he never should have played in the game, even with the Warriors down 3-1 in the series. Now, because Durant tried to come back and help the Warriors rally, what was previously a calf injury is in now believed to be an Achilles injury. (The MRI results have yet to be released.)

In the course of the mess, one of Durant’s former Oklahoma City Thunder teammates has expressed his frustration over the matter.

Retired Thunder center Kendrick Perkins recently spoke about his relationship with Durant — who he describes as the “most humble superstar” he’s played with — while on FS1’s “Fair Game” with Kristine Leahy. Following the injury, Perkins took to Twitter, stating he had spoken with Durant about taking care of himself throughout the injury process. Needless to say, Perk wasn’t happy with what he saw in Game 5:

Now, Perkins wants his old OKC teammate to be taken care of after putting his future on the line.

In the course of his flurry of tweets, Perkins also made a point to note he’s certain the Thunder would not have made the same mistake the Warriors did.
