As the Houston Rockets begin their playoff run in 2019, they want to make a deep run into the postseason and bring a championship to Houston.
They got off to a solid start on Sunday by knocking off the Utah Jazz 122-90 in Game 1 of their first round playoff series.
The West is ruled by the two-time defending champion Golden State Warriors. If you want to win a title, you have to go through them.
Former NBA champion Kendrick Perkins joined ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski on The Woj Pod and he discussed the Rockets chances at around the 53 minute mark of the podcast. He has a glowing review of this Houston team and he has high praise for Clint Capela.
If the Warriors are healthy, it’s going to be hard to beat them, although, the Rockets are pretty damn good. The way that James is playing and they also have the best center in the league, in my opinion, in Clint Capela. I think the Rockets pretty much have the only chance at beating Golden State.
Houston took the Warriors to seven games in the 2018 Western Conference Finals and came up short with Chris Paul injured and missing Game 6 and Game 7. A lot of prognosticators believed the Rockets would have won that series if Paul was healthy and played.
First things first though, they must get through the Jazz.
Game 2 of their first round series with Utah is at 8:30 p.m. CST on Wednesday.
