Kendall Jenner says KUWTK fame made it 'harder' for her to become a famous model

Kendall Jenner claims that her Keeping Up With The Kardashians fame actually made it 'harder' for her to become a supermodel.

The 25-year-old television star, who grew up on the reality show alongside the Kar-Jenner family, attempted to discredit claims that she had an advantage when it came to her modelling work.

Speaking on the latest installment of the Keeping Up With The Kardashians finale, Kendall maintained that she worked incredibly hard to get to where she was in her career.

While she acknowledges that she never took her platform for granted, the model also added that it was sometimes detrimental as people didn't want to cast her.

During the recent reunion special, Kendall explained that she had achieved all of her success off the back of her own hard work.

“In the topic of offensiveness to some of the things people assume about our family, I think everyone around me, whether friends or family, knows how hard I worked and still work,” Kendall explained.

“I did everything that I was supposed to do and had to do to get to the position I’m at now as a model. I went to every single casting, ran all over not only New York City but all over Europe trying to get a job and make my way.”

Kendall, who was the highest-paid model in the world in 2018, said that her reality fame made it harder because some casting agents didn't want to cast her.

“Of course I had a platform, I never took that for granted,” she added.

“I always knew that was there, but that almost made my job a little bit harder only because people probably didn’t want to hire me because I was on a reality TV show. I definitely worked my way to where I am now,” Kendall said.

It is reported that Kendall earned herself a whopping $22.5 million in 2018 thanks to her modelling gigs.

Following the interview, several fans have taken aim at the model on social media and expressed disbelief at her claims.

"Kendall Jenner not acknowledging that her privileged position in life is literally why she’s the highest paid model in the world and then goes on to describe herself as a realist is the funniest ever," wrote one viewer.

"Lmao Kendall says she paid her dues to become a model and being a Kardashian/Jenner made her work even harder," added a second.

While Kendall claims to have put in every effort to achieve her modelling success, a few years ago an interview with LOVE magazine caused fury in the modelling world after she revealed that she was very selective about what shows she appears in - in comparison to other models that walk in upwards of 30 catwalks.

"Since the beginning we’ve been super selective about what shows I would do. I was never one of those girls who would do like 30 shows a season or whatever the f*** those girls do. More power to ‘em. But I had a million jobs, not only catwalks but everything else. The whole combination was very overwhelming and I started to freak out a little bit and needed to take a step back," she said at the time.

Later, Kendall clarified that her words had been taken out of context and she never meant any offence to her peers.
