Kendall Fuller questionable to return vs. Texans with thumb injury

Things haven’t been going great for the Kansas City Chiefs defense and it’ll get a bit more difficult during the remaining 10 minutes of play.

The team has ruled slot cornerback Kendall Fuller questionable to return to the game with a thumb injury. It’s not clear when exactly Fuller left the game with an injury but at the onset of the third quarter he didn’t seem to be out on the field.

In his place, Tyrann Mathieu has lined up in the slot on occasion. They’ve also had rookie cornerback Rashad Fenton in there at times. They’ve also played in their base defense a lot more often than they’d probably like.

Obviously, the Chiefs can hardly afford any more injuries. They’re already missing five starters out there against the Texans. Having to rely on an unproven player out there for any stretch of time will give this defense another area that teams can exploit.

With any luck, there will be a good prognosis for Fuller after the game. Keep in mind, Fuller had surgery on his thumb just last season. Could this potentially be a reinjury issue? The Chiefs have a short week before heading to Denver to face the Broncos, so anything less than a minor injury could put his status in doubt for Week 7.
