The award winning team behind Ken Loach hit I, Daniel Blake have launched a special short film to persuade the public to vote the Tories out of office.
Scots screenwriter Paul Laverty and producer Rebecca O'Brien's new film A Fork in the Road features the cast of recent zero hours drama Sorry We Missed You , reuniting to encourage voters to make their choice based on the most urgent social issues facing the country.
The new video features actors Debbie Honeywood, Kris Hitchen, Rhys Stone and Katie Lee Proctor speaking to the camera about the issues like zero hours jobs, benefits, NHS and the environment.
Their dialogue is shown alongside footage of food banks, hospitals, protests and political leaders, as well as clips of their films Sorry We Missed You and their previous film I, Daniel Blake .
The 2016 Bafta winner starred Dave Johns as a man struggling to cope with benefits sanctions when he is deemed fit to work despite a serious heart condition. The film won awards around the world and was credited for helping to frame the debate on benefits issues.
Paul Laverty said: "If we have another five years of Tory deregulation we shall see more food banks and precarious work. Inequality will grow, and so too will tensions between us all.
"Five more years of Tory rule will add to the 14 million already struggling, and the four million children in poverty. Johnson, Gove, Rees-Mogg and those whose interests they represent do not give a damn for those whose lives have been destroyed over the 10 years of austerity, and they won't give a damn for those whose lives will be blighted over the next five. We have to challenge them every step of the way."
