Ken Doherty breezes into quarter-finals of the UK Seniors Championships with win over Lee Walker

Ken Doherty has breezed into the quarter-finals of the UK Seniors Snooker Championship with a 3-0 victory over Lee Walker this afternoon.

The Ranelagh man delivered a flawless opening-day performance to see off Welshman Walker without dropping a frame.

1997 World Championship winner Doherty finished in style with a century in the deciding frame following tight contests in the first two.

The win set up a last eight tie with the winner of the clash between 2004 World Championship finalists Stephen Hendry and Barry Pinches.

Earlier in the session, defending champion Michael Judge beat Peter Lines 3-1 to set up a quarter-final meeting with the winner of Cliff Thorburn and Kuldesh Johal.

Six-times World Championships finalist Jimmy White takes on Patrick Wallace in the evening session, while 1991 World Champion John Parrott takes on fellow Liverpudlian Wayne Cooper.

1986 World Champion Joe Johnson faces Rod Lawler and reigning World Seniors Champion David Lilley takes on Philip Williams to round out the last 16.
