Kemi Badenoch says Donald Trump can consider "fundamentally weakening Iran" an achievement of the war, even if it wasn't his goal.
The Conservative leader stated that though she believed the UK had been "dragged into" the conflict and wanted to see service personnel protected, she thought the "fundamental weakening" of Iran had been achieved.
"It might not be the goal that the Trump administration had, but Iran's neighbors have all been reminded of what kind of country it is," she added.
Ms Badenoch’s comments came as Mr Trump threatened to “end our lovely stay in Iran” by “obliterating” Kharg Island and other energy facilities if a deal to end the war is not reached.
