Kemi Badenoch Just Took Keir Starmer Apart and It Was Brutal to Watch

After months of what felt like playing it safe, Kemi Badenoch finally found her stride at Prime Minister’s Questions and tore into Keir Starmer in a way that had the Commons buzzing. It wasn’t polite, it wasn’t subtle, and it certainly wasn’t forgettable.

This wasn’t just a few well-rehearsed lines or political theatre. Kemi came armed with the kind of fire that shows she’s had enough of what she sees as dodging, finger-pointing, and excuses from the Labour Government. And she wasted no time letting Starmer know it, reported the Express.

“He needs to stop whining about what the last Government did and look at what he is doing,” she snapped, cutting through the usual noise. It landed hard. Starmer has been in power for a year now, yet every time something goes wrong, his go-to move is blaming the last lot. Voters are getting tired of the rerun. Kemi knew it, said it, and you could see it struck a nerve.

She didn’t stop there. Starmer’s Cabinet came under fire too, with Badenoch zeroing in on the not-so-quiet tensions between him and his deputy. “The deputy Prime Minister is on manoeuvres,” she pointed out, all but spelling out the internal plotting going on. “He has lost control of his cabinet. She is sitting there … but she knew exactly what she was doing when she secretly briefed the papers.”

And those leaked briefings weren’t anything. One of Angela Rayner’s aides had told The Daily Telegraph about a raft of proposed tax hikes, including ones that would hit pensioners hardest. The same pensioners who are already carrying much of the weight of the country.

That leak apparently sparked a frantic rethink from Labour HQ, leading to a sudden U-turn on Winter Fuel Payments. Starmer tried to package it as a thoughtful decision. “We have made tough decisions but the right decisions and the economy is beginning to improve,” he claimed. But then came the twist: “That is why we want to make sure more pensioners are eligible for Winter Fuel Payments.” Cue widespread confusion. Wait — weren’t they just about to cut those benefits?

Kemi wasn’t letting that slide. “The ONS says inflation figures are driven by significant increases in household bills. We called last month Awful April — the Prime Minister came to office saying he would tackle the cost of living crisis, something he has failed to do. He doesn’t have a clue.”

When Starmer tried to hit back with claims about record investment, growing wages, and economic recovery, Badenoch was quick to call him out again, pointing out that foreign investment is actually down, and that wage growth was mainly due to the Government using taxpayer money to appease striking unions.

And when she pressed him on a simple question that only needed a yes or no, she didn’t even need to follow up. “I wonder how the public will feel about a man who cannot give a straight answer to a simple question.”

Well, judging by the latest polling reported by Express.co.uk, it’s not looking good for Starmer. His approval rating has plummeted to minus 46, with a large chunk of the negativity coming from people who voted Labour in the first place.

In the end, what Badenoch did wasn’t just a political performance. It was a wake-up call — not just to Starmer, but to anyone still pretending the country hasn’t noticed what’s happening.
