Kemi Badenoch issues warning to Trump over ‘abandoning‘ Iran war

  • Conservative Party leader Kemi Badenoch has warned Donald Trump not to abandon the Middle East war, telling the US president 'if you break it, you own it'.
  • Badenoch asserted that Trump 'started this war' and should not abandon the 'mess he's made', emphasising the UK-US special relationship over individual leaders.
  • “But if I was speaking to him, I’d be saying, ‘if you break it, you own it’,” she said. “That’s what Colin Powell, a former secretary of state in the US, had said. ‘If you break it, you own it’.”
  • She also suggested that increasing North Sea oil and gas production would be beneficial for UK security amidst the conflict.
  • Reform UK leader Nigel Farage, meanwhile, questioned Trump's motivations for engaging in a war against Iran, suggesting it goes against his long-held instincts against 'endless foreign wars'.
