The Cairo-based KEMET publishing house has recently released a new poetry collection by the Algerian poet, artist, and translator Onfouwan Fouad.
The new collection, titled "Death Burned in me," is composed of 60 pages, and includes 48 poems accompanied with sketches.
In the introduction, the Syrian critic and poet Ousama Assaad said the written poems belong to Tanka poetry, a Japanese modern poetry genre which has recently become more common in the Arabic poetry practices. This poetic genre is similar to the haiku poetry, he added.
Onfouwan Fouad is an Algerian poet, translator, and artist. She has former works including "The Crane's Beak Splits the Evening Orange," which belongs to the haiku genre; " Godot Eats his Fingers," published by Elles publishing house, Cairo (2017); "I See he Doesn’t See Me," "My Soul Lives in Me Tirelessly," "Tomorrow, You are mine," and "Between the Graves of Hearts."
