Kemba Walker is starring for the Boston Celtics now but for the past eight years, he had installed himself as a pillar of the Charlotte Hornets’ franchise, as well as the local community.
As a result, the entire Hornets organization— including his former teammates — still hold him in regard and the fan base does as well. That was put on full display on Thursday night, as Walker made his first return trip to Charlotte as a member of the Celtics since being dealt to Boston in a sign-and-trade.
The crowd showed their appreciation for Walker in the player introductions and soon after, they played a tribute video on the Jumbotron that showed the three-time All-Star interacting with community and making the clutch slots that gave rise to the name “Cardiac” Kemba.
Walker has had a rough start to the game, going 0-6 from the field in the first half. The emotions are likely running high for Walker but coming into the game averaging 26.0 points per game, expect the All-NBA guard to have a strong performance in the second half.
