The Boston Celtics will face the Philadelphia 76ers without one of their best weapons against them, as All-Star starter Kemba Walker will miss the early February contest with knee soreness, reports ESPN’s Tim Bontemps.
The UConn product will miss at least the next two games with the knee problem, and while Philly is going to be without starting shooting guard Josh Richardson, the loss puts Boston at a further disadvantage.
Walker has been one of the Celtics most potent counters to the length and size of the Sixers, and with the team down two key frontcourt players in centers Enes Kanter (knee) and Robert Williams III (hip), injuries may play a major role in the outcome of tonight’s match.
Boston has called up two way center Tacko Fall to help in that regard, so we may see some unusual lineups deployed in an effort to glean potential postseason strategies as much as compensate for hurt players.
Either way it ends up going, the Celtics will have their work cut out for them taking on the 76ers at the Garden Saturday night.
