Kemar Roofe teases Rangers injury return as forward steps up Celtic derby comeback bid

Kemar Roofe has teased his return from injury ahead of Rangers' clash with Celtic.

The forward has been sidelined for the Ibrox side's last five fixtures after picking up a calf injury during the Europa League win over Lincoln Red Imps.

Steven Gerrard admitted the Jamaica international would "probably" be missing until after the international break but wasn't able to provide specifics.

But as a first derby of the season looms on October 17, Roofe has the boots back on.

The Ibrox side travel to Celtic Park in eight days' time and the 27-year-old could well be on course to be involved again.

He posted a quick update on Instagram showing himself preparing for training.

With a chunk of the Rangers squad off on international duty, Roofe is still in Glasgow continuing his recovery.

Much of the side will be due back next week with first-teamers Alfredo Morelos, Ryan Jack, Steven Davis, Jordan Jones, Borna Barisic, Cedric Itten, Glen Kamara and Filip Helander.

Barisic sparked concerns over his fitness by not featuring in Croatia's clash with Switzerland.

The left-back sustained an impact injury during last weekend's win over Ross County and was absent as his international team-mates beat the Swiss 2-1 on Wednesday night.
