Kemar Roofe set to seal Leeds United exit as Whites eye replacements before deadline day

Reinvesting the £7m Kemar Roofe will fetch Leeds United is Victor Orta’s big priority going into next week and deadline day.

The 26-year-old is expected to finalise his transfer to Anderlecht on Monday or Tuesday after a fee was agreed with the Whites.

Sources in Belgium suggest Roofe has agreed terms on a three-year deal and will undergo a medical on Monday while the clubs tie up the finer details of the fee.

At the start of this week there was expected to be limited movement into Elland Road before the transfer window closed, but Roofe and Bailey Peacock-Farrell’s sales have changed that.

Following the exits of Jack Clarke and Pontus Jansson, in the main, earlier this summer, the club is in a decent financial position and has money to spend.

A back-up for Kiko Casilla from the continent is expected to be a formality, while a forward will also be pursued as United’s top brass reacts to the loss of the last two seasons’ top scorer.

It remains to be seen who Orta chases with the Roofe money, but as it stands Marcelo Bielsa will use Patrick Bamford, Tyler Roberts (when fit) and Jack Harrison as his strikers.
