Kemar Roofe rubbishes Alfredo Morelos Rangers commitment suggestions as Ibrox star makes 'focus' admission

Kemar Roofe has issued a staunch defence of his Rangers pal Alfredo Morelos and insists he's 100 per cent committed to the cause.

The Colombian has come under fire at times this season for seemingly looking 'uninterested' and being angry when subbed off during games.

But Roofe insists every player and the manager is behind him and they wouldn't be if he was acting out around the training ground or at games.

The former Leeds frontman has been excellent since joining Rangers and loves playing alongside Morelos as he batted away any suggestion he wasn't up for the fight.

When asked about Morelos, he told talkSPORT: "He loves football. He really does. In the training ground he’s full of beans, he gives it 100 per cent. He’s full of energy and he tries his best. He’s a fighter and these are the sort of players we need at Rangers and in our team."

And host Jim White continued to push about Morelos and questioned whether he was fully committed to the club after a summer of speculation and having his head turned.

And Roofe added: "Of course he is, otherwise he wouldn’t be playing. If he wasn’t the gaffer wouldn’t have him, and the players wouldn’t have him as well. And none of us can single him out at all."

Rangers are chasing their first major silverware in almost 10 years and Roofe admits they do think about stopping Celtic's 10 In A Row, but insists they are focused on themselves.

He added: "It’s all about Rangers. It’s all about ourselves. That’s how I play my football, I never worry about any other team, it’s what happens within your bubble, your training ground and how you’re training and preparing.

"I’ll be lying if we don’t think about those sort of things. We’re training so hard this season, we want to win silverware, we want to win the league and the cups but it is all about Rangers.

"If we keep doing what we’ve done so far we’ve got a chance."

Steven Gerrard's men have been fantastic in the Europa League this season and Roofe admits he isn't thinking of winning the tournament yet, but reckons other clubs will be wary of them.

He commented: "We have to take it game by game, but what we’ve shown so far is we are a good team, especially in the Europa. We are a good team and teams and players will take notice of that."
