Kemar Roofe receives SFA ban as Rangers striker is out of next two games for Murray Davidson tackle

Rangers forward Kemar Roofe has received a two-match ban for a tackle in the match against St Johnstone last Wednesday despite an appeal.

The English striker was pulled up by a three-person disciplinary panel after a challenge on midfielder Murray Davidson on the stretch.

The tackle was deemed worthy of a yellow card at the time by referee David Munro but that prompted further action from the governing body.

Ibrox manager Steven Gerrard believed there was little intent behind Roofe's actions and confirmed the club would be appealing the charge after "analysing the situation".

He was charged for the tackle on Friday last week, setting up a fast-track hearing that took place on Wednesday afternoon - and its outcome has landed him with a suspension.

He'll now miss his side's next two home Premiership matches, against Kilmarnock and Dundee United.

It means Rangers will be without two of their most capable attackers for the match against Tommy Wright's Killie with Alfredo Morelos serving the last match of his three-game ban in that encounter too.

Morelos was pulled up for a stamp on Hibs defender Ryan Porteous and his club opted not to appeal on that occasion.

Rangers slammed the SFA 's disciplinary process last week as Gerrard called for "consistency" in outcomes.
