Kemar Roofe Rangers defence issued by Callum Davidson as he insists 'no malice' in tackle

Callum Davidson insists Kemar Roofe didn't mean to hurt Murray Davidson and believes replays slowed down will make it look worse than it was.

The Rangers striker was booked for his first half challenge and it could have been a red but Davidson insists his only concern is his midfielder's injury.

The St Johnstone star was forced off later in the first half after the challenge but his manager didn't want to pin any blame on Roofe following the tackle, with Rangers going on to win the game through a Ianis Hagi strike.

His only concern was if his midfield man would be injured for the Betfred Cup Final against Livingston later in the month.

"It's one of those, I don't think there was any malice in the challenge, but it doesn't look great," he said. "TV pictures will slow it down and make it look worse than it is.

"The only thing I know is that I have lost my player from the resulting challenge.

"Is he a doubt for the final? It's not great.

"It's a concern with the cup final coming up. I don't know if he needs a scan, I will know more in the morning.

"It's one of those, probably the decisions didn't quite go for us today. Little things in the game that could have helped us out."
