Kemar Roofe misses Rangers training as Europa League final clock ticks for striker

By Gavin Berry

Kemar Roofe missed Rangers’ training session as the clock ticks on his Europa League Final chances.

The Jamaica international has been out since featuring in the Scottish Cup semi-final win over Celtic at Hampden.

Ibrox boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst vowed to give him every chance of making the Seville showdown against Eintracht Frankfurt.

But, speaking at the UEFA media day for the final, the Dutchman said: “(Kemar) Roofe is not training with the team at the moment but he is doing everything he can to be ready.

“Hopefully he can make some positive steps in the coming days.”

Rangers face Hearts in their final Scottish Premiership match of the season on Saturday before the clash with the Germans.

Van Bronckhorst said: “I am honoured for my team to play in this final. I don’t think you have favourites in finals - it can go either way but I am confident we can put on a good performance against a good side.

“To reach a final is always a good feeling but it would be even better to win. We deserve to be in the final but we need to put on a good performance on the night.

“It is good to feel the pressure of the occasion and we must embrace it and turn it into a positive. Our previous performances will get us that confidence and belief.

"We are focused now to try and ensure a positive end to the season and push ourselves hard next season to be successful.

"We have to play to our strengths and find the right balance in approach.

"We should play with flexibility to change if necessary as it will definitely be a high-level game against top opposition."
