Kemar Roofe issues Rangers warning as he hails 'invincible' team title effort

Kemar Roofe has warned this year’s title success is just the start for Rangers.

Steven Gerrard ’s side completed an unbeaten Premiership season at the weekend by beating Aberdeen 4-0.

Roofe bagged a double against the Dons to finish the season as the club’s top league goal scorer with 14, with the former Leeds and Anderlecht hitman netting 18 in all competitions.

But it’s been all about the team effort this season rather than any one player, with the likes of James Tavernier, Connor Goldson, Ryan Kent, Alfredo Morelos and Jermain Defoe all chipping in at the top end of the pitch.

Skipper Tavernier scooped the SPFA Player of the Year award while Allan McGregor and Steven Davis picked up the Scottish Football Writers’ version.

Gerrard did the double, being voted manager of the year by both organisations.

After breaking almost a decade of Celtic dominance, the 28-year-old insists there’s more to come from the Ibrox club as they reacquaint themselves with that winning feeling.

“It was nice to get two goals on the last day and be Invincible. That’s the main thing – to go home and be remembered forever now as an Invincible.

“Not many people have done it, so that’s amazing. The key was our togetherness and our commitment. That’s the recipe for our success this season.

“The gaffer says it all the time – it’s just the start of the journey. Next season we want more and we’ll keep building on it. But this is a good start.

“We’ve got a group of players and the staff and the Board to keep driving. We are not going to stand still at all.”
