Kemar Roofe injury blow for Rangers as calf problem mystery emerges ahead of scan

Rangers new boy Kemar Roofe will undergo a scan on his calf and could be missing for the next few weeks.

The English striker has started his Rangers career well and looked to be getting up to full speed after making the move from Anderlecht last month.

Prior to that, he hadn't played since December 2019 after picking up a calf injury, then missing games because of lockdown.

He got himself fit and has two goals to his name for Rangers and had been linking up brilliantly with Ryan Kent and Ianis Hagi before limping off in the first half of the 5-0 win over Lincoln Red Imps.

Roofe was a big miss as Rangers dropped points at Easter Road and it looks like Steven Gerrard will have to manage without him for the next few games.

With matches against Motherwell and Willem II over the next seven days, as well as an Old Firm match on the horizon, Gerrard will be desperately hoping that the scan doesn't show up anything too bad.

He told RangersTV: "He’s been sent for a scan, we originally thought it was a bit of tightness in his calf, he thought it was tightness in his calf.

"On assessment it was looking that way but something showed up so he’s going to be missing in the short term."
