Kemar Roofe and Rangers given hostile Prague reception as airport heckler brands visitors 'butchers from Glasgow'

Rangers striker Kemar Roofe was heckled as he arrived in the Czech Republic, with the visitors branded "butchers from Glasgow".

Steven Gerrard and his team flew out to Vaclav Havel airport on Wednesday for their Europa League clash with Sparta Prague.

There's bad blood with their opponents' arch-rivals Slavia following last season's last 16 match between the pair.

Czech defender Ondrej Kudela was handed a 10 match ban for dishing out vile racist abuse to Glen Kamara, with the centre-back missing Euro 2020 as a result.

Slavia were furious too as a horror challenge from Roofe injured goalkeeper Ondrej Kolar, and the striker wasn't allowed to forget it as he left the airport in Prague.

A bystander was filmed shouting: "Hey mate!

"Have you come to injure another goalie? Butchers from Glasgow."

Roofe received a ban for his challenge, which left Kolar with a fractured skull.

He said at the time: "The tackle looks bad, it is bad for the goalkeeper.

"It hurt him a lot.

"But it was not on purpose at all. I received a ball over the top from Connor Goldson and with the speed we play at, you can't move out the way or prevent things from happening. It was literally a bad accident.

"People that know me, they know I'm not that type of player or person. I never go on the pitch to fight or hurt somebody.

"All I want to do is play well and help the team win games. That's what I was trying to do."
