Kemar Roofe admits Rangers debut disappointment as Ibrox new boy makes vow to fans

Rangers new boy Kemar Roofe admits he was disappointed with his performance he made his debut for the Ibrox club.

And he vowed to work hard to get back to full fitness and prove himself to the Rangers support after his initial 30 minute cameo.

Roofe hasn't played a competitive game since December 27 last year when he picked up an injury playing for Anderlecht and looked rusty during his time on the pitch.

He wasn't helped by Rangers' dip in performance as they took their foot off the gas while 3-0 up against St Johnstone.

Steven Gerrard admitted he might have got it wrong to make so many changes at once while he had also said Roofe was seven to ten days behind the rest of the squad.

Roofe was delighted to have made an appearance as he told fans: "Proud moment for me making my debut at Ibrox with a good team performance and 3 points.

"I'm disappointed in my performance but I will continue to work hard in training to regain my fitness to get back up to speed."

The Rangers forward got some support from an unlikely source with former Celtic striker Marc Antoine-Fortune telling him to keep his head up.

The pair were together at West Brom and clearly stayed close as he replied to Roofe to say: "As long as your disappointment last 5 mns (minutes) am ok with that...only positive mindset we want."
