Kelvingrove Park statues vandalised with graffiti

Two statues in Kelvingrove Park have been vandalised with graffiti.

Both the Boer War memorial and Thomas Carlyle statue have both been defaced in the west end park.

On the Boer memorial, 'BLM ACAB' (Black Lives Matter, All cops are b******s) has been sprayed, while on the Caryle statue it says: "F*** THE POLIS".

Earlier, we reported on the Robert Peel in George Square being vandalised with the 'ACAB' slogan spraypainted onto the plinth.

A Police Scotland spokesperson confirmed to Glasgow Live: "Police are currently investigating a report of vandalism to two statues in Kelvingrove Park. Anyone who has information regarding those responsible should contact police via 101."

The force earlier confirmed enquiries are underway into the incident at George Square.

Euan Blockley, councillor for Glasgow's Linn Ward, earlier posted a photo of the city centre statue and commented: "Disgusting to see that the Robert Peel statue in George Square has been vandalised.

"The slogan ACAB (All cops are b******s) is deeply offensive to the hard working officers that keep us safe in this city.

"Communism is an ideology that has murdered millions and seeing its symbol graffitied in our city is vile."
