Kelvingrove Cafe open library celebrating female writers to mark International Women's Day

To mark International Women's Day, Finnieston favourite Kelvingrove Café has introduced its very own library celebrating only female writers.

Featuring literary greats from the 1800's right through to contemporary writers, the new library has been introduced to give increased access to free books for the local community.

The initiative, introduced today, will run indefinitely with punters being invited to borrow any of the 50 books available.

The collection of books was curated by Kelvingrove Café's GM, Kirstie Addis - who, as a keen writer, boasts a literary background herself and graduated from English Literature at Glasgow University.

Talking about the new library, she said, "To mark this year’s international women’s day, we are celebrating the originality and excellence in writing by women.

“Today we open our free honesty library - a library that showcases only female writers, but open to everyone.

“From Austen to Atwood, classic to contemporary fiction, the library is completely free, completely accessible - and a salute to inspiring female writers everywhere.”
