Kelvingrove Cafe is hosting a roaring Repeal Day cocktail party

Kelvingrove Cafe is marking the 86th anniversary of prohibition being abolished with a roaring Repeal Party.

The Finnieston cocktail bar is hosting the free event next Thursday evening to capture the high-and-not-so-dry spirit of the era with music and cocktails aplenty.

If you head along, you can expect to enjoy a range of "beautifully crafted concoctions" from Kelvingrove Cafe’s team of award-winning bartenders.

Kelvingrove Cafe’s General Manager Kirstie Addis said: “At the heart of our mission here at Kelvingrove Cafe is to celebrate the true craft of cocktail making and quality spirits.

"Repeal Day is a great opportunity to do exactly that whilst marking a historic milestone. We’re looking forward to partying likes it’s 1933!”

The event is sponsored by Jack Daniels Tennessee Rye, coming fresh off the back of the venue making the finals of Tennessee Calling – one of the world’s biggest cocktail competitions.

The drinking den stocks a wide range of US spirits, including: Bulleit Bourbon, Woodford Reserve Bourbon Whiskey, Aviation American Gin, and Junípero Gin.

Prohibition, the legal prevention of the manufacture, sale, and transportation of alcoholic beverages in the United

States from 1920 to 1933, ended on December 5 ended with the ratification of the Twenty-first Amendment, which repealed the Eighteenth Amendment.
