Kelvingrove Art Gallery outdoor ceilidh - watch as over 1,000 dancers take part

Dozens of passers-by watched on as over 1,000 dedicated dancers took part in a huge outdoor ceilidh at Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum this afternoon.

The event was the West End Festival's fifth annual ceilidh, run in conjunction with the Glasgow Folk Music Workshop.

Organiser of the event, Brendon McIlroy, told Glasgow Live: "The outdoor ceilidh at Kelvingrove Galleries has become one of our most popular events over the years.

"This year we’ve had our biggest numbers yet and it’s just fantastic seeing so many people smiling, dancing and having fun at the West End Festival".

And thankfully social media user Catriona was passing by as the dancers were mid-jig, and she captured some fantastic footage of the ceilidh as Glaswegians of all ages partied away in the sun.

And the good news is, for those who were unable to make it along today, a similar event will be held at the piazza on Vinicombe Street on June 22, at 2pm.
