Kelly Osbourne is devastated following the death of her beloved dog Polly.
The star took some time off social media for the summer but returned to Instagram to share the sad news with her followers.
The 36-year-old posted an adorable picture of Polly looking into the camera with her head tilted, letting fans know of the heart-breaking news in the accompanying caption.
She wrote: “I promised myself that I would take a break from social media for the summer... however I thought I should let you all know that this week I lost my Polly to pulmonary heart defect!
“She has been by my side for 6 years. I do not no how to go on without her. To say I’m devastated is an understatement.
“I have never felt pain like this. I have lost my shadow. I don’t think I will ever get over this. My heart is broken. I am broken!!! I am not in a place to even talk about it.”
She added: “To all my close friends... if I don’t respond please understand that I just need time.”
Celebrity friends and fans took to the comment section to check in on the star after her loss.
Hillary Clintons Deputy Advisor, Rick Hendrix wrote: “Oh my. My heart is crushed for you. We love you, we are sorry.
“I know our words cannot help the pain... only time will help you heal. We are sending you our whole hearts.”
Singer, Luke Friend commented: “Sending so much love K.”
One fan wrote: “I’m sorry for your loss.” Another added: I’m so sorry. Losing a fur baby is the absolute worst. Stay strong beautiful.”
Using the same picture, in May she revealed to fans on Instagram that Polly had a medical emergency after waking up to find her barely breathing.
Kelly told her 2.4m followers at the time: "At around 4:30am Erik and I woke up to find Polly hardly breathing and completely unable to move.
"We rushed her to the vet where she is currently being treated in the ICU. I was told they believe her heart stopped and they don’t know why.
"This dog means more to me than anything in the world. She is my heart and soul. I don’t think I would still be here if it was not for this dog. Please pray for her."
Kelly used Polly as her emotional support and said she helped her through tough times.
