Kelly, McArthur, Wickham: The latest Palace injury news and expected return dates ahead of Spurs

Crystal Palace could be without two defenders for the trip to face Spurs at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this weekend.

The Eagles head to north London to face Mauricio Pochettino's side, with Palace looking to continue their fine recent form after back-to-back wins against Manchester United and Aston Villa, prior to the international break.

The wins moved Palace on to seven points from their first four games, with Roy Hodgson's side currently sitting fourth in the Premier League ahead of the return of club football this weekend.

But Palace have a few injury problems ahead of the game, and below, we take a look at the players who could miss out, and when they could potentially return for Palace.

Scott Dann

The 32-year-old defender faces a late fitness test ahead of the game.

Dann missed Palace's last game against Aston Villa with a hand injury, having sustained the injury in the Carabao Cup second round tie with Colchester United, when his hand was trampled on.

He has been working on his fitness over the international break, and Hodgson has confirmed that he will be assessed in the morning ahead of the game.

If he does not make the Spurs clash, he is expected to be available for the game with Wolves the following weekend.

Martin Kelly

The former Liverpool defender went off in the second half of the 1-0 win against Aston Villa, having picked up a groin injury.

He was replaced by Mamadou Sakho in that game as the Frenchman made his return from injury, but Kelly is not set to feature against Spurs.

Palace boss Roy Hodgson confirmed at his pre-match press conference that Kelly would not be available for tomorrow (Saturday), with the defender working separately on his recovery ahead of the game.

"Martin Kelly is injured, of course, he's been injured since Aston Villa so we won't have him," Hodgson said.

James McArthur

The Scottish midfielder is another doubt for the game tomorrow.

Hodgson confirmed that like Dann, he will be assessed in the morning ahead of the game.

The Palace boss did not specify the injury McArthur had, but said that he would face a late fitness test.

Like Dann, if he does not make the Spurs game, he is expected to be fit to face Wolves next week.

James Tomkins

The former West Ham defender has been sidelined since April with a groin injury sustained in the win at Newcastle United.

He had an operation in April and missed the rest of the season as a result, but he has not yet featured for the Eagles in pre-season.

He has returned to training this week though and could come into contention for the matchday squad for tomorrow.

Connor Wickham

The former Sunderland striker will miss tomorrow's game against Tottenham, having picked up an injury over the international break.

Hodgson did not confirm the extent of the injury in his pre-match press conference, but said that the forward would not be available.

This is the latest in a long list of injury problems for Wickham in recent times, with the striker suffering a succession of injury troubles after a long-term knee injury sustained at Swansea in 2017.
