Nissan Motor Co.'s former Representative Director Greg Kelly went directly to a hospital in Ibaraki Prefecture to see a doctor for his chronic spine ailment after being released on bail from the Tokyo Detention Center on Tuesday night, his lawyer said.
Kelly, 62, has been indicted on charges of violating the Financial Instruments and Exchange Law by having underreported remuneration of the automaker's former Chairman Carlos Ghosn. 64, in securities reports. Kelly plans to be hospitalized for about a week from Wednesday.
According to his lawyer, Kelly called his wife in the United States on his way to the hospital by taxi and told her about his release on bail from detention. At the hospital, he is staying in a private room, which he described as nice and spacious.
