Kellogg’s donates half a million meals to NHS workers

A cereal giant is donating half a million food servings to NHS and key workers in the UK.

Trafford-based Kellogg's has pledged to give 500,000 meals directly to those helping others in the fight against coronavirus.

The company has also promised to deliver at least three million servings of food to food banks and community groups supporting the vulnerable.

Staff in NHS hospitals and medical facilities can visit the firm's website at www.kelloggs.co.uk to request a donation be delivered directly to their place of work, for their own staff or break rooms.

Delivery drivers will also get support from Kellogg's with food being provided to the staff rooms of the company's three main UK haulier firms.

Chris Silcock, Kellogg’s Vice President and head of UK business, said: “At Kellogg’s we want to ensure we are doing what we can to support those who need us at this time. From getting food onto shelves, to supporting local food banks and schools.

"I want to take this opportunity to thank the NHS for their tireless work and I hope that by donating a further 500,000 servings of cereal direct to those working on the frontline we are able to help in some way.’’

Across Greater Manchester, Kellogg’s is also supporting food redistribution charity FareShare to reach hospitals, schools and food banks.

Cereals and snacks have been donated to a number of Manchester charities, including Mustard Tree and the Bread and Butter Thing, and over 10,000 packs of cereal have been delivered to Manchester’s hospitals.

Kellogg’s, which has had its UK headquarters in Manchester since 1938, employs more than 1,000 people across the city-region at its Trafford Park factory and office in Salford’s MediaCity.

Last month, the business received almost 400 applications as it opened up roles at its factory to meet the increased demand for food.
