Kellie Harrington receives fitting present from partner Mandy Loughlin

Kellie Harrington has revealed a fitting gift that her partner Mandy Loughlin gave to her over the weekend.

The Dublin boxer stole the hearts of the nation as she fought her way to an Olympic gold medal in August and put a smile on the faces of millions of people with her down-to-earth interviews throughout the Games.

Harrington used the catchphrase Hakuna Matata from the Lion King as she spoke to the media after her bouts.

Explaining why, the Portland Row native said in Tokyo: "Hakuna Matata it means no worries for the rest of your days. That's what I say and that's what the Lion King says."

And Mandy bought the fighter some Lion King socks, which Kellie was delighted with, posting on her Instagram story: "Thank you Mandy. Cute."

Mandy previously told how her partner had come to use Hakuna Matata as her catchphrase.

She said: "I asked her 'what's the story with that Kell' and she just goes 'I've been sitting here listening to the Lion King soundtrack for the last week in my room.'

"She's happy go lucky, it's just good honest nice music and it brought her on.

"It gave her a bit of a confidence boost and it's kind of a magical song that takes you away from reality."

Harrington revealed last month that she will stay amateur and is targeting a shot at another Olympic gold at Paris 2024.
