Kellie Harrington lets slip where she is going to keep her Olympic gold medal

Kellie Harrington has let slip where she plans to keep her Olympic gold medal.

The Portland Row native landed back home in Dublin on Tuesday and is set to tour the city in an open top bus.

And Harrington has not made concrete plans on where she will keep her medal but reckons it'll stay alongside her other medals.

Speaking on Tuesday, she said: "There's a bit of a scratch on it already. I think you can get replica medals made so I'll see if I can get a replica medal and bring it around with me but I'll probably just put it with the rest of my medals in the house somewhere and if someone calls over I'll show it to them."

Harrington also said she hasn't shed a tear since arriving home after being on the go for the past two days but thinks seeing her friends and family might set off the waterworks.

"I haven't shed a tear since coming home because I'm feeling very exhausted. There's not that many people here because of Covid and stuff so I think when I go into town and see all them familiar faces who know me from growing up and who knows my story and stuff and I'm going to see them and see how happy they are for me and how happy they are for our community.

"People are saying 'you've a great community and that community are fantastic' sure I'm saying that forever. I've been saying that for years so you must not have been listening when I'm saying it but I'm glad now they are finally getting to see my community is absolutely smashing and that's in the good times and the bad times they are always there for each other and get behind their own.

"I love them and when I do see them I'm probably going to end up balling my eyes out."
