Kéllé Bryan back on Loose Women ahead of 8-hour infusion in hospital for lupus treatment

Hollyoaks actress Kéllé Bryan, 45, returned to the Loose Women panel on Tuesday at their ITV studio, after dialling in from phone for her appearances in the last six months.

She explained the reason she was back is because she returned to London for an infusion that she needed to help her manage lupus, which she was diagnosed with in 2016.

Former Eternal star Kéllé said: "It's so lovely to be back, I have really missed being in this seat and seeing these faces, I know we can't interact but seeing you in person is just lovely.

"I am back because I am having an infusion, it's my six monthly infusion for lupus."

Ruth Langsford asked: "So every six months you have to go into hospital for a day or two?"

"Yes," said Kéllé. "I have to be in the chair for about eight hours having the infusion done, which keeps me well and able to live the life that I do now.

"So I am very grateful I have a treatment that means I can live a relatively normal life."

Last August, Kéllé shared a harrowing clip from the start of her lupus battle where she could not speak.

Kéllé fought back tears as she watched the 2016 video where she stammered heavily and her speech was slurred.

She revealed she now manages the condition with regular chemotherapy treatment that allows her to live a mostly normal life.

Kéllé's co star Denise Welch burst into tears watching the shocking footage on the screen and viewers were also emotional.

Speaking about her last round of chemotherapy, Kéllé explained: "It was actually last week, Friday, I had my last truxima infusion.

"I have one every six months, which keeps my disease under control and enables me to live a practically normal life.

"Which I am really grateful, because I am in a position where I can live a pretty much normal life.

"But obviously where I have come from since 2016 is a massive long journey."

The show then played two clips from where Kéllé battled with her speech, the first was of her explaining on Loose Women that her condition was stress-related and that she had a seizure, and in the second video speaking into a camera but struggling terribly.

Kéllé said she wanted to raise awareness for her condition so that other people did not have to suffer like she did.

* Loose Women airs weekdays on ITV at 12:30pm
