Kell Brook open to Amir Khan rematch as rival considers second fight

Kell Brook has promised to hand Amir Khan another "whooping" if his rival demands a rematch.

The British star scored a dominant sixth-round stoppage victory over his long-term foe in Manchester last month.

A rematch clause had been added to the fight contract and Khan's brother Haroon has said it could be activated by the 35-year-old.

Brook has responded to the claim by questioning what Khan brings to the table after a "one-sided" outcome last month.

"If he wants another whooping he can have another whooping," Brook told Sky Sports News.

"It was so one-sided, I don't know what he can say and come back to the table with. If he wants that rematch, I'll dust them gloves off and do it again."

Mirror Fighting understands that Khan is yet to make an official decision on his future.

Khan admitted he had lost his "love" for the sport in the aftermath of the defeat and made several hints that he was set to retire.

He was dominated by his rival despite enjoying a bright early spell in the opener, with Brook's power paying dividends throughout the fight.

The Sheffield star was simply too much to handle for Khan who was on the receiving end of a heavy barrage which closed the show.

Khan showed resilience in the fight and was able to stay on his feet despite Brook questioning Khan's chin in the build-up.

However it seemed highly unlikely Khan would consider another shot at Brook with most observers calling for the star to hang up his gloves.

The pair shook hands after their animosity and bad-blood appeared over after the fight as they admitted to having respect for each other.

BOXXER promoter Ben Shalom has said he has encouraged Brook to move on and fight other names or retire with speculation intensifying that Khan will exercise the clause.

"I think the word on the street is true - Amir Khan, he doesn't want to call it a day," Shalom said.

"He has spent a lot of time thinking about the fight the past couple of weeks and he feels like he had 10 weeks to prepare and Kell Brook had six months.

"So he feels hard done by. I don't know whether that fight is even possible, but he does have that rematch clause.

"For me, for Kell Brook it's time to move on, whether it's to retire or to fight one of the other names mentioned.

"I can't see it, but Amir is convinced, we will hear what his reasons are in the next few days and we'll have to take it from there.

"Whatever he (Khan) does, he's had a great career, just for me it probably was the time to hang up the gloves, but he feels very differently."
