Kell Brook claims Amir Khan 'deserves a smack' for questioning sexuality

Kell Brook claims Amir Khan deserves “a smack” for questioning his sexuality.

Brook is furious with Khan for suggesting he is a closet gay in the latest unsavoury episode in the war of words between the bitter rivals.

The former IBF welterweight champ has been in a relationship with his partner Lindsey Myers for years and has accused Khan of crossing the line with his slur.

The pair have three children together and Brook fumed: “He was coming out with so much, making all these allegations, it was terrible.

“My family had to hear that and he was making these rumours up.

Amir Khan says wife Faryal will be upset if he keeps boxing after latest defeat

“He should get a smack because he went all over the line. There’s banter, but that went over the line.

“With what he’s been through and what he’s done, for him to make those things up, I can’t believe he did that.

“This is a sport and he’s gone way across the line.”

Amir Khan told it's time to retire after Terence Crawford defeat

Khan claimed in footage that emerged in December: "There is talk about him being gay. If you re a real man, come out and say it."

Brook was ringside for Khan’s TKO defeat to Terence Crawford in Madison Square Garden on Saturday, but claims he wants to fight the American rather than him.

He is still angry with Khan for reneging on their gentleman’s agreement to take the Crawford fight.

“I haven’t got time for him anymore,” said the Sheffield fighter. “Khan just seems to do what he wants to do. He doesn’t want to give the fans the big fights, which we all want to see.

“I was in New York for someone who wants to fight the best and that’s Crawford.

“He’s named as the pound-for-pound best, that was the guy I went for. I want to take that belt off him.”

Brook also revealed he has pulled out of his June 1 date at the Garden on the undercard of Anthony Joshua’s US debut because he only wants to be involved in big fights.

Promoter Eddie Hearn wanted him to have a ticking-over fight and he said: “I won’t be back here on June 1. I’m not on the bill.

“I can’t get up for these warm-up fights, I don’t need them. World championship fights are the ones I get up for, the ones I get nervous about. But these other ones, I can’t get up for a mediocre kind of fight.”
