Kelechi Iheanacho hoping for happy Christmas with Leicester following striker's superb recent form

Kelechi Iheanacho is determined to deliver a special Christmas at Leicester after insisting more presents are on the way.

Brendan Rodgers' second-placed side are in fantastic form after a club-record eighth successive Premier League win.

They host lowly Norwich on Saturday after thumping Aston Villa 4-1 when Iheanacho set-up Jamie Vardy to open the scoring before netting himself.

It was his first league start of the season after coming off the bench to score a dramatic late winner against Everton earlier this month.

The Nigerian striker, 23, said: “It’s a fantastic record. I feel we can win the next game and we’ll keep going and get more records.

“There have been good Christmas presents so far, we’ll keep going and get more wins.”

Iheanacho has had to bide his time again this term because Vardy is the Premier League leading scorer with 16 goals.

But boss Rodgers opted to play a midfield diamond at Villa and started Vardy and Iheanacho together upfront for the first time.

Iheanacho added: “It’s very good to be a part of this great squad. I’m happy to be part of it and going forward we have fantastic players and great quality.

"Everyone is buzzing, everyone is happy. We have a great manager and great staff.”

Iheanacho has scored in all four games he has played this term. He is averaging a goal every 44 minutes having also netted in the Carabao Cup wins over Luton and Burton.

Now the forward has the Canaries in his sights ahead of a crucial run of fixtures for the Foxes. Next Wednesday they go to Everton in the EFL Cup before visiting Manchester City and then hosting unbeaten leaders Liverpool on Boxing Day in a crunch televised evening clash.

But optimism is growing Leicester can mount another title charge after their famous 5,000-1 success in 2015/16.

Vardy is on fire again after notching in eight successive League games to prompt talk he could equal or better his run of 11 successive games from the title win.

The club are also being busy behind the scenes where they have tied boss Rodgers to a new £40million deal until 2025.

King Power officials are now in advanced talks with stars James Maddison and Caglar Soyuncu over new lucrative long-term deals with significant pay-rises.
