Keith Walsh announces RTE2fm departure as he teases 'next chapter'

Keith Walsh is to leave RTE2fm after seven years on the national airwaves.

The Dubliner, best known for his time on Breakfast Republic with Bernard O'Shea and Jennifer Zamparelli, had been on the weekend slots in recent months.

But in an emotional social media post labelled "time to say goodbye" the presenter announced his plans to move on.

Keith said: "So long 2fm, it's been a blast. We had seven great years together and I enjoyed every last one.

"In that time I did a bit of radio, completed two marathons, travelled to Kenya, Palestine and Malawi, made a few TV shows, did a bit of acting and wrote a play.

"But it's time for me to take a leap of faith, time to see what else is out there."

The broadcaster also gave a big shoutout to his loyal fans and the many presenters he has worked alongside over the years.

He added: "Big shout out, radio style to all of my 2fm colleagues and friends, you are great people and you are doing great work.

"Special shout out to Jennifer, Bernard and Lottie, we'll meet again. As for me, keep and eye out for my podcast, book, documentary and please come to my play.

"Thanks all for listening and thanks for your support, you have given me a platform and I can't wait to use it."
