Keith Lemon's Through the Keyhole 'axed' by ITV after six series

Through the Keyhole has been axed after six series by ITV, according to reports.

The classic gameshow that was presented by Sir David Ross and Lloyd Grossman got rebooted in 2013 and was presented by Keith Lemon, real name Leigh Francis , across its run.

But now, it's claimed that the show will not return after six years on air.

A source told the Daily Star : "Since last year's series, there have been discussions over the future of Through The Keyhole and now it's been decided to ditch it.

"The show lasted for a while - almost seven years. But ITV are keen to focus on other ideas. The Masked Singer has proved new formats can work."

The news comes following the axing of fellow long-running game show Take Me Out , presented by Paddy Guinness.

Paddy broke his silence on the axing by expressing gratitude, saying: "Eight weddings, six babies, a generation of youngsters...

"Over 10 years ago, ITV took a punt on me and the show. I will be eternally grateful."

He added: "It was before Tinder and Snapchat, Twitter was a baby, Whatsapp was witchcraft...

"It put the success of the dating shows back on the map."

Meanwhile, Through the Keyhole's ratings had been in decline across its six series, with the show starting out with 5 million viewers but falling to just 2 million last year.

Take Me Out has also been axed (ITV)

Stars who appeared across the show's run included Alan Carr, Denise Van Houten, Dave Berry, Joel Dommett, Vernon Kay, Cilla Black, and Jonathan Ross.
