Keiran Tierney makes Celtic title statement as Arsenal star reveals his Neil Lennon regret

Kieran Tierney is confident Celtic can still catch Rangers and seal Ten in a Row.

The Ibrox side are 16 points ahead of the Hoops heading into Saturday's derby after a faultless first half of the season.

Rangers racked up their 13th Premiership win in a row against St Mirren on Wednesday night.

Celtic have captured some form in December, but still have a lot of ground to make up on their rivals.

But Arsenal star Tierney is convinced his former side have what it takes to overhaul the deficit.

Speaking on BT Sport’s Scottish Football Extra show, Tierney said: “I still watch the games every week if I can. If they are the early kick off I watch it in the hotel and get a few of the boys to watch it as well.

“Obviously it’s not been the best of starts but there’s a long way to go. I’m still confident.

“I think Neil’s the right man. One of my regrets in football is I only got a few months to work with him – because I loved it.

“Unfortunately I was injured for a while but he was brilliant for me. He made you feel brilliant going out on to the pitch, feeling like you could beat anyone.

“I think that’s the sort of manager the players need right now, with confidence in them and the team. I think he can do it.

“I think the position they are in it will make it all the better. They are a few points behind but imaging coming back and doing it to win the 10.

“That would be brilliant.”

Tierney admitted it’s a new sensation seeing Celtic playing catch up but he backs his old Parkhead pals to come good in the end.

He added: “The last few years you have been the ones at the top getting chased. It’s a new challenge for some of the boys but there are a lot of them in there who have done it before.

“You have the experience you need, and a manager who’s been there before as well.

“It’s a new challenge for some but I’m sure it’s one they are relishing in the dressing room. They’ll be working hard and they’ve been brilliant in recent weeks.”
