Keira Knightley's daughter had a similar reaction to many when Donald Trump won US election

Keira Knightley’s child might barely be a toddler but she perhaps best summed up the gravity of the US election results as they came through.

The actress’s daughter is only 19 months but apparently capable of understanding the collective jolt of pain so many felt when Donald Trump emerged as the victor in the US general election.

Knightley’s daughter Edie uttered the same four letter expletive many others shouted at their television screens when his victory was announced, albeit without the same understanding of the word.

But while many parents may admonish their children for swearing, Knightley told Jonathan Ross she was “proud” of her daughter’s reaction.

“She is talking a lot, she's running, she's literally repeating everything we say so we're having to be really careful and we are being really careful but we had this really weird thing the night of the American Election," Knightley explained.

“I went back to bed and my husband [James Righton] is on his phone and he was like 'Trump has won', so like many people we were very awake after that moment and watching the TV and watching it and Edie didn't wake up until about eight in the morning at which point I think he was giving his victory speech.

“I brought her into bed and she's like this watching the television, completely silently and totally still for about four minutes and she rolls over onto her back and she closes her eyes and she goes ‘f***’.”
