Keir Starmer strategist leaves post after just two weeks

A STRATEGIST appointed to work on Keir Starmer’s Government reset has left the role after just two weeks.

Tom Kibasi was seconded to Downing Street to bolster the Prime Minister’s team after a punishing first year in office which has seen Labour’s popularity plummet as the party fails to combat the rise of Reform UK, Bloomberg reports.

He was expected to work at No 10 for several months but left at the end of August.

In a statement to Bloomberg, he said he was returning to work at NHS England where he serves as the executive director for strategy.

Kibasi worked on a short-term project at Number 10 which has finished, a Downing Street official said.

He had been brought in to work with Starmer’s chief of staff Morgan McSweeney on what was described as an unnamed strategy project.

It was reportedly viewed as part of preparations for Starmer’s reset which began with a clear-out of No 10 staff at the end of the summer recess.

This became a full-blown Cabinet reshuffle after the furore about Angela Rayner underpaying stamp duty on her second home forced her resignation from the Government.

Kibasi has previously claimed to have been on of the “strategic architects” of Starmer’s 2020 Labour leadership campaign.
