How ingenious to create 21 suggestions to launch 2021 with a smile (How to be happy in 2021 (despite everything), 8-10 January). What about idea 22: join a faith group. Covid has widened opportunities to shop around online, to enjoy a taster of different forms of worship and meeting. Faith groups welcome people of all ages, backgrounds, nationalities, life experiences, hopes and sorrows – people seeking to make sense in life and find commonality, belonging and joy.

• Boris Johnson made a 200-mile round trip to Bristol – with God knows how many staff in tow – for a photo opportunity at a vaccination centre that should be working flat out without such distractions (‘Get the jab done’: Covid vaccination centre opens in Bristol stadium, 11 January). Get back to No 10 and Zoom please, prime minister.
