England manager Gareth Southgate watched Leeds United's 2-0 home reversal to Sheffield Wednesday at Elland Road on Saturday afternoon, with reports claiming that the Three Lions chief had come to keep a watchful eye on midfield star Kalvin Phillips.
Southgate was spotted arriving at Elland Road by plenty of Whites supporters before taking up residence in the Directors Box to watch Leeds fall to their first home defeat since August.
Understandably, the thought of the England manager coming to watch a game in the second-tier opposed to the Premier League is bound to raise a few eyebrows, especially as there were plenty of top flight matches taking place at that time.
But Leeds fans are seemingly confident that the former Middlesbrough boss, who, of course, led England to the semi-finals of the 2018 FIFA World Cup, was in West Yorkshire to keep a watchful eye on Phillips.
